Google Docs for Paperless Collaboration and Formative Feedback

One of the easiest ways to collaborate online (paperless!) is with Google Docs. Google Docs includes a word processor, spreadsheet program, presentation program, drawing program, and form creator (which you can use for a survey or quiz!). You already have (secondary teachers and students) a Google Apps account through the school district account. We will learn about each application and begin creating your own documents. We’ll then walk through the simple process of sharing documents with each other for review, commenting, collaborative editing, and collaborative creation. Google Docs enhances your ability to provide the best of formative assessment - quick, frequent, and descriptive feedback to students – without even one stack of papers! In addition to the learning benefits, all students will also benefit from the organization and backup provided by Google Docs.
